ABOUT Compass basKeTball
Compass is a community basketball program that started in Pond Mills area in the summer of 2013. It started as pick-up ball with over 30 local high school boys, some with experience and many without.
Since then, Compass has expanded to provide training camps, leagues, AAU Teams and more so that more youth can have the opportunity to develop their skills, character and team play.
The goal was always to use basketball to build relationships, create mentoring opportunities, provide a safe environment where players feel loved and encouraged, and to allow them to find their God-given purpose and identity.
The goal has never changed.

The reason why I encourage my son to be part of the compass program is because he is surrounded by coach's that not only care about his basketball, but also him as a person. Compass also has a lot of team building activities such as camping and holiday activities. My son is very happy to be apart of the Compass Program
We have been involved with the Compass Basketball program for the past 3 years. Coach Jay and his coaching staff are invested in their players mental health, physical health, academics and basketball all year long. The program holds my son accountable for all facets of his life. Collectively, as a family, we have enjoyed our involvement with Compass Basketball. Compass is more than just another basketball 'club' and it's not just about wins and losses. Coach Jay has a genuine love for both the game and his players. It shows both on and off the court!
After I started playing compass I realized it’s not just about basketball but how you hold yourself as a man. The organization helped me stay focus on my dreams and give it my all every day. One of the best things I’ve heard is from my head coach Jay telling me that “when Im focused and I try hard I’m a great player”. From that point on I knew where I wanted to be.
playing compass after school seasons over keeps me from hanging out with the wrong crowd and keeps me focused
I like training because it helps me stay active and improve on my game
I like the coaching because you guys always have a way to help us with anything + you guys always have positive mind sets towards us and great motivation
I enjoy compass because the coaches are always there to help you out and push you, tournaments when we all travel as a team, and the competition and competitiveness that is on this team.
Personally I enjoy being a part of Compass because although the level of basketball competition is high, it’s not just about basketball. Our team is like a family and the bonds we build will last longer than most of our basketball careers. I also like the non basketball related things we do such as the team dinners, activities and trip to Toronto.
