The HUB Youth Centre is a safe space open to youth of all backgrounds. We are community-focused and provide a drop-in space, as well as programs to help young people discover new skills, learn about themselves and connect with new friends.

Starting February 2020, we’re trying something new. We’ll be open to Jr High students (ages 12-14) and Sr High students (ages 15-17) on separate nights. Our hope is that we can serve you better by offering programs better suite to your age group.

See the age-specific program information below.

JR High Drop-In | Ages 12-14

3 – 6 PM

About Drop-In Times: Drop-In at The HUB is a safe space for youth ages 12-14 to come after school for fun, healthy relationships, personal growth, and skill development. We offer a mix of free-time and structured activities, ending with FREE dinner at 5 PM in Cafe Connect. There are plenty of opportunities to try new things, meet new people and discover more about ourselves.

Not ready to leave yet after dinner? Then stay for Collective. It’s all about faith development; youth aged 12-17 can explore their beliefs about God, the Bible and Jesus and grow in their faith.

DROP-IN ACTIVITIES

Homework: You can finish your homework before going home. We have staff and volunteers available to help with tough assignments.

Cafe Chill: Don’t have any homework? You can still hang out in Cafe Connect with quiet activities and chatting with your friends.

Cooking: Join the volunteer cooking team and learn some tips and tricks for working in the kitchen.

Community Dinner: All activities break at 5 PM to gather students, staff and volunteers around the table to share a meal and good conversation. There is no charge but we do accept donations to help with food costs.

Games Room: We’ll run a group game when drop-in first opens and there’s also play pool, ping-pong, air hockey and foosball with friends.

Gym Games: We can also run group games in the gym and play basketball, floor hockey, bazooka ball and volleyball with friends.

Free Time: After the group games, you have some free time before dinner starts.

Collective: Faith Development | Ages 12-17

6 – 8 PM

About The Collective: The Collective is a faith development program where youth are encouraged to discover and grow in their beliefs. It is an open and safe place to discuss opinions, questions and challenges about God, Jesus and the Bible. Youth of ALL beliefs and backgrounds are welcome. By learning and discussing together, leaders will strive to engage youth in conversations and topics that are meaningful to them and give youth room to explore and understand what they believe.

Want to come early for dinner? You’re welcome to join us for FREE dinner every week at 5 PM in Cafe Connect.

SCHEDULE

Dinner: From 5 – 6 PM, we all gather to enjoy a meal together. Part of our experience in a faith community is to sit together at a table and share a meal in a family setting. Youth who join can be prepared to enjoy good food and have a chance to serve.

Main Session: We kick off with a video or teaching on a relevant topic to get us thinking more about faith and life in general. Take notes, ask questions and discuss your views on God and Jesus and let’s explore what life with God means to you.

Small Groups: After the main session, we’ll split into smaller groups. Voice your opinion and ask questions; hear from peers about their faith experiences and the shared struggles. This is a safe space for youth of ALL beliefs and backgrounds to engage in respectful dialogue.
